The International Festival Chorus is honored to invite internationally acclaimed soprano Dame Emma Kirkby for her China debut in our performance of Bach’s Mass in B Minor. Words can’t describe the feelings of elation after exiting the stage to thunderous applause after our Saturday performance of Off Off Offenbach at the Forbidden City Concert Hall. Percussions Claviers de Lyon were simply amazing. I had such a good time performing this piece that I’m flying down to Shanghai this weekend to join the IFC Shanghai to perform it again! In a complete departure from the ethereal beauty of the classical choral music that we sing at our usual Forbidden City Concert Hall appearances, such as the Rachmaninov Vespers or Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, as well as a good 90 degrees away from dramatic works such as Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Sea Symphony or Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, this April 14th, the International Festival Chorus Beijing offer you the rowdy and raunchy work of Jacques Offenbach in Off Off Offenbach, arranged by the world’s premier percussion group Les Percussions Claviers de la Lyon, whom we welcome to Beijing to join us on stage for a truly unforgettable evening. I can’t promise any can can dancers, but I do guarantee you will not ever see another show like it it Beijing, or even in the world for that matter, with plenty of whistling, stomping and bawdy music and rollicking musical delights for all!
