Ron Paul Dollars

Bernard von NotHaus is a man with a mission. A mission that I applaud heartily, I might add. His goal is to replace the ailing US Federal Reserve Notes with a currency that is actually backed by precious metals. Quoting from the Liberty Dollars website:

Remember when gas was only 25-cents a gallon? You could take a dollar down to the gas station and buy four gallons for a buck! At that time our dollar was backed by REAL money, real silver. Guess what? That same amount of silver still buys four gallons of gas! That just shows that real money like gold and silver holds its value and it is the green paper money that is now worth a lot less. As a matter of fact, when you think about it, you realize that gas, food, and almost everything else has NOT gotten more expensive. It only seems that way because the value of the green paper money is worth less and less and so it takes more and more of it to buy the same goods and services. Most people think prices have gone up, but in reality: it is the value of the US dollar that has actually gone down. Luckily, now there is a simple and profitable solution to the coming inflation - good old-fashioned, REAL money as the Founders intended. Look at these charts by the US government.

Well, things took a turn for the ugly late last week when the FBI raided the Liberty Dollar headquarters. The timing for many seemed suspiciously in sync with the releasing of Ron Paul Liberty dollars. Fortunately, it seems that Mr. von NotHaus has been expecting this for some time, and almost seems to welcome the confrontation. In his words:

Make no mistake, the FBI and Secret Service raid on the Liberty Dollar at 8:00 AM on Wednesday, was a direct assault against the US Constitution and your right to own and use gold and silver in any way you chose. I personally spoke to FBI agent Andrew Romagnuolo shortly after he and his gang invaded the peaceful home of the Liberty Dollar. He told me that the raid was related to the US Mint’s warning and the beginning of a criminal investigation. This is the first battle of a long war that I intend to win!…

… I see my arrest and trial as a golden opportunity to win and return our great country to a value based currency. I sincerely believe that the right creative marketer could orchestrate an effective counter attack and win big. I believe the Liberty Dollar will win and become one of the great institutions in America. I have devoted the past ten year to the Liberty Dollar and am willing to risk a few years in federal prison to vindicate it. Winning is certainly possible, even probable with your help.

A victory for Liberty Dollars is a victory for us all!

In a comment on an article about Hilary vs Ron Paul that appeared in the Liberty Papers website, George summed up why he believes Ron Paul has a genuine chance against Hillary Clinton:

Ron Paul is still mostly unknown. His message of freedom and LIBERTY - that thing you are supposed to be promoting here but do not - is spreading. If you would all stop trying to tell lies to the public and telling them that it is useless to vote for Ron Paul because he can’t win, (he can by the way and several articles have spelled out exactly why and how) you might notice that Ron Paul’s campaign is growing exponentially. Just this month alone, Ron Paul took in 2 1/2 times more money than Huckabee raised in the last three months.

As soon as the Paul message is heard by enough people, Hillary will be toast. What anti-war supporter would rather go with a person who promises war for at least another six years in a country that has nothing to do with anything, vs. a man who promises to pull out the troops in one year when he gets into office?

What senior will vote for Hillary when they realize that she only intends to inflate more and make their static SS checks nearly worthless by the time she gets out of office vs. a man who has promised to save money by stopping the drive for world domination, bring troops home and spend it on the people who have it coming to him. Has Hillary written a bill that would make all SS checks tax free? No. Ron Paul has. Has Hillary written a bill that would make SS money untouchable by the Congress for other projects? No. Ron Paul has. Does Hillary even know what inflation is or how to stop it? Probably not, and she has no way to stop it. All of her programs can only increase inflation and send those on a fixed income into the poor house where she will promise to give them a crumb when they get there.

Ron Paul on the other hand has a plan to return to the rule of law and stop the inflating of the money supply so that your savings will have some worth to them and so that the poor will not be stolen from.

People just need to learn the Ron Paul message - and to do that they need a little time. No, Ron Paul will probably not win an election against Hillary if it were held tomorrow. But it is not going to be held tomorrow

Well said, George! George and some others in the comments section were dismayed that the Liberty Papers, a site purportedly propagating libertarian values, publishes articles that seem to inspire quite the opposite. They even suggest that the whole site might be a trap to lure potential Ron Paul supporters in under false pretenses, and then leave them feeling uneasy about Ron Paul. What ever the case, I must say that with supporters such as these vigilantly patrolling the blogosphere, Ron Paul may indeed gain the support he needs.

China's first lunar probe achieves lunar orbit

China’s first lunar probe has successfully performed a crucial breaking maneuver at perilune and entered lunar orbit this morning. According to Wang Yejun, chief engineer of the Beijing Aerospace Control Center (BACC), the braking was performed in order to decelerate the probe, enabling its timely capture by lunar gravity to become a “real” circumlunar satellite.

This remarkable accomplishment is a real feat for the budding Chinese space program, and places them one step closer to achieving the ambitious goal of reaching the moon before the scheduled 2020 return by the US. A physical presence on the moon would likely guarantee China lands a decent chunk of lunar real estate when the real divvying up begins later this century. Whether as platform for delivering space solar power or to provide a lunar station for space-based asteroid mining operations, it’s clear that moon plays an important part in China’s present and future security considerations.

I wonder if NASA might not be getting a few more dollars thrown its way in the coming years…
